TBOS-R1-Part 5"I think... we'd better tell each other everything that has happened." Paige said as she sat down on the ground and indicated Alex do the same. Paige listened intently as Alex relayed her tale, occasionally asking about details and trying to make sure she didn't leave out anything that might be important.Alex took out her notebook and wrote down Paige's experiences, from her live of a private investigator and vigilante and her conversation with the mysterious Benefactor to walking through the woods and finding a black mark circling a cottage in the woods. Paige had watched as a wolf had come to the door, and when it had attempted to eat the old woman living there, she had shot it and followed the pathway into the forest. She had hidden behind a tree and watched as a small girl with a red hooded cape skipped down the lane towards the house. Paige had been rather surprised when the wolf had answered the door in the old woman's pajamas, and the little girl had gone inside. A woodcutter h
TBOS-R1-Part 4"I'm not a figment of your imagination, you're a figment of my imagination. Or else something that was created to keep me from escaping this dream world." The woman pulled out a length of wire."And what do you think you are going to do with that?" Alex asked with eyebrows raised. "What are you , a cop or something?""You could say that. I'm going to tie you up so you don't do anything while I figure out where I am." The woman stepped closer to Alex and instructed her to turn around."Lady, I am not an 'obstacle' or whatever. I'm in here trying to figure out why I can't write. And you are seeming less and less like a representation of my inner psyche, unless I am secretly a sadist." Alex obstinately crossed her arms and took a step back. "I'm not trying to stop you from whatever you're doing. So if you'll excuse me, I'll just go back through that magical mystery mist and find out where the Monkey King went." She turned and began to walk back up the hill she had fallen dow
TBOS-R1-Part 3Alex watched in amazement as the Monkey King continued his journey down the river. She pushed through the bushes and vines that lined the river, trying to follow and keep him in sight. As they moved further and further away from the waterfall, she noticed something strange about the scenery. The colors were no longer as vibrant and the edges of leaves and tree trunks were developing what looked like a black outline. The mist from the water also seemed to be thickening, and Alex couldn't see much further down the river. The monkey King's raft soon disappeared into the fog, as Alex paused to examine the strange change in the foliage. "" They felt no different to her touch. She shrugged and marched further into the fog. After a few minutes she could see no further than a foot in front of her, but she held her hands out and continued on."
TBOS-R1-Part 2The sound of rushing water got louder as Alex pushed her way through the foliage. Eventually the flowers she pushed aside revealed an ledge overlooking a beautiful waterfall tumbling down a sheer cliff face. The water collected in a large pool at the bottom, with large rocks jutting out of its surface, before becoming a rushing river through the dense jungle below. As her gaze followed the fall of the water, it fell upon the figures crouched on the rocks and her eyes widened. "Monkeys!" she exclaimed under her breath. The monkeys were jumping from one rock to another, some of them disappearing and reappearing from behind the waterfall. Alex sat on the ground with her legs hanging over the ledge and watched their frolicking. Their chattering eventually reached her ears, and her jaw dropped as she heard that they were speaking words, and not only that..."Those monkeys. Are speaking. Chinese," she said aloud to no one in particular. Fortunately the rush of the falls kept her words from r
